TEAM REQUIREMENTS & EXPECTATIONS

1. Volunteering

  • Parents/Guardians are expected to volunteer with the Utah League at one race during the season for each racer participating
  • Parents/Guardians are expected to volunteer with our team at two races during the season
  • Student Athletes are expected to participate in at least one trail work day during the season
The team will organize a few trail maintenance days each season.  We will also send out notices about other trail work opportunities that other organizations will be doing.  Please report any trail work hours that you (or your family) perform, to us, through our online submission form.  Additional information about volunteering and how to sign up can be found on this website under the volunteer menu tab.

2. Attendance and Participation

We put in a lot of effort to organize practices and we expect you to be there.  We also understand that you may have other commitments that may require you to miss practice occasionally.  Please let us know when you need to miss practice by making a note and marking your availability in TeamSnap.  Although we don’t set a requirement on the number of practices you must attend, keep in mind that to be considered for any awards at our year end team banquet, you must have attended at least 50% or more of the practices.  This includes senior recognition awards.

BE ON TIME – Seriously, don’t be late.  We spend practices riding out on the trails and we can’t wait for everyone.  Make sure your bike is ready to ride before you come to practice.  All student athletes and ride leaders are expected to sign-in and sign-out on the appropriate ride group sheet for every practice/race.

3. Helmets are Required

Anytime you have a leg over your bike you must have your helmet strapped to your head.  This goes for all of our student athletes, ride leaders, parents, and siblings.

4. Sportsmanship & Trail Etiquette is expected at all times

Treat everyone with respect. That goes for coaches, ride leaders, other student athletes, volunteers, and other trail users.  Remember to yield to uphill riders and mountain bikers yield to all other trail users.

5. Grades

School comes first.  You must have a 2.5 GPA to participate on the team.

6. Equipment

You are responsible to keep your bike maintained.  Please don’t show up to practice with flat tires, brakes that aren’t working, or other similar maintenance needs.  Every rider should carry at a minimum a filled water bottle, spare tube, pump, and a spare chain link.  Closed toe shoes are required.  Gloves and glasses are highly recommended.
